Dance TV News - David Trueman Reports on the DPA Invitational Team Match

The date is Saturday 22nd February. The time 8.15pm

After a long and exciting wait it was finally here.

The inaugural DPA Open invitational Team match.

What a night this turned out to be. All categories of the National League were included which meant a Team match of huge proportions.

Dancers who lead the field in their age group and grade were invited to join teams representing the North, South, Midlands and Wales and West under the skilled Captaincy of Damien Hey, David Trueman, Jason Parkinson and Loren James.

The unenviable task of adjudicating fell to the incredibly experienced Helen Blackburn who must be congratulated on an excellent job indeed.

All three National League branches were included.

The evening was filled with great dancing with an atmosphere that simply took one’s breath away.

The scores kept changing as the match progressed which increased the intensity and performances of the dancers.

The final result saw a win for the North which drew great applause from the hundreds of spectators and supporters and of course gave Damien Hey the honour and privilege of being the first ever winning Captain

The whole evening was full of great dancing and undeniable friendship and it was a wonderful spectacle and celebration of the DPA/BDF National League which is now in its fifteenth year and getting better and better

The Dance Promoters must be congratulated on putting on such a fabulous evening for everyone involved together with great vision

See you all next year
