Follow Me Around Blackpool 2024 By Jack Reavely - Part Two

PROFESSIONAL RISING STARS LATIN

Cha Cha Cha,,,,, No.7- Stas Olarescu and Marketa Vlckova- the man and the girl dance with flamboyancy and they match each other beautifully, with the girl transmitting fervour and joy while the young man is utterly committed to the task of dance latin style. 31-Victor Burchuladze and Daria Prusakova- Voluptuosity shows its fangs in samba, within the performance of this pair of delicious exponents. Some couples show a fascinating ability to invite audience applause....what an asset indeed. 25- Evgenii Urazgildeev and Anna Urazgildeeva- Show a beautiful contrast of speed, coupled also to ooze and they appear to have so much time because they control knee and ankle positions so well. They are a very promising pair of latin exponents. PASO DOBLE 31-Victor Burchuladze and Daria Prusakova- Postural strength in this young man shows as clear as a summer sky and a specific almost arrogance is beautifully transmitted by both so as to extend characterisation so well.

PROFESSIONAL US SMOOTH

14- Nick Cheremukhin and Viktorija Barasihina- Show extraordinary aspects galore, which transmitted expertise and they use a wise mix of stunning drop actions, always coordinated to both the music and the line effectiveness. In their Viennese waltz no 7- Vitaliy Matusyak and Irina Tiamkina- showed a fabulous blend of physiques taken to dance which transmits elegance and their personalities as well. The expressive freedom within the postures of this event was fantastic to see and it produced pictures in my mind of Fred and Ginger. It seems to me that this type of dance is so sophisticated and lovely to see that it could easily swell its ranks as more and more couples attempt to portray the fantastic nuances and rhythms of this type of dance.

SENIOR BALLROOM FINAL

No.79- Chester Crucy and Shannon Crucy- have a fine understanding of how to express beat three in waltz and this is a great acquisition. They understand how to reduce the progression. 49-Phil Holding and Melina Harrison- unfortunately appeared to dance out of the rhythm in viennese waltz and in tango....can easily be worked upon and cured by constant application of concentration. No 79-Chester Crucy and Shannon Crucy- gave a good overall performance, showing quality and they are very light on their feet, especially in quickstep. No.72- Slawek Lukawczyk and Janine-Nicole Desai- had a command of silhouette which was amazingly good and it was also retained throughout the events rounds which I saw.

RISING STARS AMATEUR LATIN

RUMBA No. 24- LEONARDO CORTESE and ANNALISA BIA- young, beautifully presented musicality and drawing My eyes and ears towards them as they are so very promising and they possess that look of latin which could, in time, allow them to gain many marks if they continue to use the, musicality they show and the lack of muscular strain..I find fascinating... They found me, I didn’t find them..... such talent is so exciting

PASO DOBLE 24- LEONARDO CORTESE and ANNALISA BIA- In the midst of the glamour this pair were as stars descending from a black sky and illuminating all around them. The elasticity of body structures, and retention of the look of latin and this young man’s hands illustrated the dance, also his young Lady is a lovely foil for their talents.

Fervency shines from every corner of the ballroom. The chandeliers are fully restored and fitted and this gives the scene a look as if it is an Emperor’s birthday and the population are having a high society ball... stunningly so.

At the end of the team match Eldar and Anna Dzafarov announced their retirement from competitions.

Eldar, was, and still is, the possessor of feet which expand magnificently and protect foot rises and lowerings with utter distinction and Anna adds glamour and utter sophistication and they will be sadly missed, but perhaps other couples will breathe a sigh of relief, because they were utterly dangerous opponents of class. They danced a special waltz on the Blackpool floor and produced a dance which warmed your heart and made you be grateful that you saw this dance.

I sit within the Winter Gardens complex, prior to the opening of the ballroom on Monday morning and I am able to watch arrivals who transmit elegance, anxiety, laughter and a hubbub of conversation. The build up is obvious exciting young couples make their way to the utopia we call the Empress Ballroom.  I did notice that footwear has changed considerably with comfort overshadowing the usual shoe which used to be worn in abundance but is now disappearing.

The practise session time arrives and the All Blacks are on the floor practising and practically everyone wore that colour for practise… one young man, in a white shirt, stood out as if a cherry on top of ice cream. Greg De Wet had promised me that he would play a Victor Silvester recording of a waltz. He did so and flooded my mental recollections with the purity of Oscars violin playing.. Greg made my eyes gleam with a tear… Then he played a second waltz and it fulfilled all that I required, especially when coupled to Ashley Frolick and the orchestra who were magnificent. A wee tip… Beat three in waltz should convey a breathless placing in the vicinity of beat two, so as to convey extra characterisation.. Michael Le and Sandra Jablonski dance in quickstep during this practise, a quarter turn and progressive chasse and I can see and feel his concentration because he is using his ankles and feet properly and with reverence as well.

Ashley and the orchestra are filling my ears in this session, with beautifully soft and inviting waltzes, which demand you to dance and convey what you hear. A senior over 50 couple man in black contrasted by a white shirt and sleeves looked the smartest on the floor. The practise sessions make you come alive and slakes the first you posses for dance and more dance.

Swirling around in my head I see pictures of both Victor and Ashley. They smile benignly because they know that they play to please the ears and tingle the eyes with tears of sheer nostalgic pleasure.

In the tango practise I see an embryonic talent of excellence by trying to dance the correct things and they stood out in my eyes and ears, as I consider this pair could be eminent in this dance as time passes and they are Ruslaw Kaliuzhnyi and Elena Babeva from the Ukraine originally, but now living in the USA. I commend their dancing to you.
